Cours Saleya, foodie heart
Every morning except Monday, Cours Saleya is covered with flowers, fruit and vegetables from the Nice region. You buy a bunch of carnations, taste olives from Nice and order a slice of piping hot socca at one of the historic stalls, Chez Pipo or Lu Fran Calin. Wandering here together is one of the most authentic dates the city offers, with the Alps as a backdrop.
Specialities to share
Pissaladière, a bread dough topped with confit onions, anchovies and black olives, is eaten by the slice in a bakery. Pan-bagnat, a round bun filled with niçois salad, is shared on a bench facing the sea. Small stuffed vegetables and the authentic Nice salad are enjoyed sitting at a good spot in the Old Town. So many chances to say what you like, back and forth between bites.
Rue Pairolière and Place du Pin
Rue Pairolière, on the edge of the Old Town, lines up delicatessens, wine shops and a famous address for home-made pasta. Place du Pin then hosts an intimate café, perfect for a pause. Natural wine bars have multiplied around here. On Lyad, Nice members compare their best soccas and favourite restaurants; it is up to you to find someone to launch the southern aperitif with.
